Account data (from sign-in providers): user ID (UID), email address, display name, profile photo URL, sign-in provider IDs, and provider account IDs. Phone number may be present if provided by your sign-in provider.
Family tree data you create: tree title/description, owner and collaborator emails/roles, person names, gender, birth/death date labels, current location, mobile number, notes, relationship links, profile photos, proposal history, and linked-person token metadata.
Subscription data: subscription tier and purchase entitlement state from RevenueCat and app stores.
Local device data: locally cached tree records, photos, viewport/settings/preferences, and signed-in account snapshot data used to keep your session functional.
2. How We Use Information
Authenticate users and keep accounts signed in.
Create, sync, and share family trees across collaborators.
Upload and delete profile photos.
Process subscriptions and enforce feature limits by subscription tier.
Support account deletion, conflict resolution, and reliability of sync.
3. Who We Share Information With
We share data only with services needed to run Troots features:
Authentication and cloud database providers for sign-in and sync.
File/media storage and processing providers for profile photo upload and deletion.
Subscription and payment processors for plan and entitlement status.
Identity providers used for sign-in.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Permissions and Device Access
Photo Library: used when you choose a profile photo for a person.
Contacts (optional flow): used only when you choose “Pick from contacts” to import a name/phone number into a person record.
Internet access: required for authentication, sync, and subscription functions.
5. Data Storage and Retention
Data is stored in two places:
On device: local SQLite database and local photo files for app functionality.
Cloud: secure cloud systems used to operate Troots features.
We keep data until you delete it, remove account access, or delete your account, subject to technical backup and processing constraints of underlying providers.
6. Account Deletion and Data Deletion
The app includes an in-app account deletion flow. When completed, the app attempts to:
Delete owned trees and remove or detach shared access records.
Delete associated remote photos.
Delete account index records used by the app.
Delete local tree/account data and then delete the sign-in account record.
Some backup or provider retention windows may delay full purge.
7. Security
Troots uses authentication controls and database access rules that restrict reads/writes to authenticated users and authorized collaborator roles. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
8. Your Choices and Rights
You can sign out at any time.
You can delete your account in-app.
You can request support by email for questions about access, correction, or deletion.
9. Children's Privacy
Troots is a family-tree tool and may contain information you enter about family members. Please only upload information you are authorized to share.
10. Do-Not-Track
Troots does not currently respond to browser Do-Not-Track signals.
